Over the last year, I made a conscious decision to pursue inspiration over action
This meant pursuing my passions, instead of falling into a pattern of “doing”.
For years, I posted weekly YouTube videos, stacked my calendar with calls, and volunteered for every task available. What resulted was great external success - and with that, increased internal pressure. Emotions like stress, anxiety and tension began to take over my existence.
Despite my 50,000 YouTube subscribers and yearly promotions, I wasn’t actually that happy. I was always chasing the next goal.
Living this way, especially unconsciously, is extraordinarily damaging. In pursuit of constantly “doing”, we rob ourselves of the present moment and the true pleasure of being alive.
Pursuing “inspiration over action” is a re-frame that has transformed my life, and the lives of many I’ve coached. It leads us to find new learning pursuits, adventures, and fresh perspectives.
It has also made a tremendous impact on my business. The second I stopped trying to fill my calendar with calls (volume) to connecting more deeply with clients who are aligned (quality), I saw greater business growth and deeper personal fulfillment.
The clients I’m working with now are some of the most committed and inspired people I have ever had the pleasure to coach.
So often, we think that “doing” is what will lead us to greatness. But this isn’t a recipe for success or joy.
Passion is.
Learning is.
Staying inspired is.
What would change if you pursued inspiration more?
